An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse Specialist to join our dynamic and friendly Neurology team to support people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). You will work with people living with MS and contribute to a multidisciplinary team including allied health professionals, primary and secondary care medical and nursing staff.
This post is based in Forth Valley Royal Hospital, however the post holder will require to work across other sites, therefore ability and willingness to travel throughout Forth Valley is essential for this post.
The post holder will work closely alongside and report to a band 7 Specialist MS Nurse and two MS consultants within the wider team of seven Consultant Neurologists, ten specialist nurses and admin team.
The post will involve managing a caseload of people with MS receiving therapies. You will provide and deliver an expert nursing service managing specialist intravenous and oral therapies for people with MS delivered by the day medicine unit and home delivery. The post holder will also ensure that patients and their families are fully informed of the therapies and supported by providing clinical and social support.
The delivery of holistic, person-centred care is paramount. Your ability to problem-solve and think on your feet is vital. You will need to plan, arrange and manage complete episodes of care, working in partnership with others, referring as appropriate to provide the care and support needed to assist patients and clients. You will require having a flexible approach to work.
The post holder should have a minimum degree in Nursing (registered on part 1 of NMC register) and have experience working in a variety of medical/surgical areas as appropriate having built up a general knowledge base of clinical conditions and treatments.
Experience working in a community setting with clinical experience in neurology, care and management is an advantage. Full training will be provided, although applications are welcome from those with relevant experience.
We welcome independent prescribers, but this is not essential and we will support appropriate prescribing qualifications as part of development in the role.
