To be professionally and managerially responsible and accountable for the direct delivery of the adult learning disabilities physiotherapy service in Edinburgh and West Lothian, ensuring effective and co-ordinated delivery of services, responsive to changing service needs. To be responsible for proposing, developing and implementing policies and plans relating to physiotherapy and learning disabilities, contributing to the achievement of strategic goals of the Division, and assessing the resource implications of these policies and plans. Manage and lead a team of specialist physiotherapy staff to promote the provision of clinical care in their field of physiotherapy in REAS. Support the development of a specialist physiotherapy service. Manage and co-ordinate the acute learning disabilities physiotherapy service, ensuring delivery of appropriate care to acutely ill patients and hospital discharges. To be responsible for the provision, co-ordination and evaluation of a learning disabilities orthotics clinic accessible to clients across Edinburgh and West Lothian within the resource constraints of the allocated budget. To provide expert advice to multi-professional and multi-agency staff and carers, and at Service, Divisional, Health Board and Scottish Government level. To be an expert clinician in the fields of physiotherapy and learning disabilities, encompassing physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management of patients and providing second opinions and expert advice regarding complex cases across Scotland and the UK. |
