Applications are invited from Registered Nurses to work within the Emergency Department at Ninewells Hospital.


An opportunity has arisen for experienced individuals to join our established Nursing team on a permanent basis.  You should possess good communication skills and be able to demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development.


The Emergency Department is a dynamic, busy department offering a wide range of clinical experience. As a band 5 nurse you will be able to develop your knowledge and skills in emergency nursing throughout majors, minors and the resuscitation room, whilst delivering care to patients with complex needs and multiple co-morbidities. The post-holder will work with a range of services and healthcare professionals across the interface of acute and primary care. This provides the opportunity to develop new knowledge and skills within the context of emergency care as well as enhance existing skills.


You should be committed to providing high standards of care in an acute setting, and be able to effectively prioritise care. You should be able to work well as part of a large and diverse multidisciplinary team. The post provides an opportunity to influence and develop practice as the department continues to provide high quality emergency care.


Successful post-holders will have access to a range of CPD activities linked to Emergency Nursing, including opportunities to undertake Masters level study and develop enhanced skills. You should therefore be able to demonstrate your commitment to professional development and provide evidence of ongoing learning.


The primary base is within the Emergency Department at Ninewells Hospital.  Depending on the needs of the service you may be required to rotate to the Emergency Department at Perth Royal Infirmary.


Previous post registration experience in an appropriate acute speciality is desirable.


You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register

Hours of work are:      37.5hrs per week. Day/night rotation. Part-Time Hours may be considered.
