A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Mental Health and Learning Disability (MHLD) Practice Education and Development Team for a Band 7 Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) to cover Mental Health/Learning Disability Portfolio. For a year duration in the first instance.
The post is supported by NHS Education for Scotland and is hosted within the Mental Health and Learning Disability Portfolio of NHSG. The MHLD practice education and development team covers the Health and Social Care Partnerships areas of Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray and the post holder would be responsible for providing practice education support to the all mental health areas within the partnerships areas. The post holder will also have close links to Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen University and the North of Scotland Colleges.
The PEF role will provide support to students, learners and staff within the portfolio. The post requires the development and maintenance of a learning environment where both education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to practice. The role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future nursing/midwifery workforce in line with local and national directives.
The successful post-holder will be a 1st level registered nurse with experience at Band 6 including supervising undergraduate nurses. Significant knowledge and experience within mental health and learning disability nursing is also required. Evidence of leadership skills and supporting others in practice is essential as are great communication skills. You should have excellent care values and a strong sense of team spirit coupled with a sense of humour. Enthusiasm to work, learn and develop self and colleagues within the exciting and challenging high pressure environment of mental health and learning disability nursing. You will be dynamic and forward thinking in your approach and focused on providing safe, efficient and person centred care
A proven interest in training, education and professional development for all staff is essential, as well as the ability to have courageous conversions and demonstrate influencing skills.
The successful candidate should be educated to degree level or equivalent and hold a nationally recognised teaching qualification. Further development would be supported within the role as is the opportunity to present at National Conferences, raising the profile of NHS Grampian as a learning environment.
Travel across Grampian will be required, therefore, the successful candidate should have a valid UK driving licence and be a car owner.
PLEASE NOTE:
A Post Graduate Teaching certificate at SCQF level 11 are essential requirements for this role. Candidates who do not currently hold these qualifications but are committed to achieving the qualifications would be considered.
If appointed to the role without these qualifications, the post will be offered under the terms of Annex 21, Agenda for Change, arrangements for pay and banding of trainees to allow for successful completion.
On successful completion, the annex 21 would be removed. In the unlikely event that there is a failure to complete the course in the anticipated timescales, this would result in not meeting the essential criteria that the post requires. In this case the fixed term or secondment contract would be terminated and candidate would return to substantive post.
