Clinical Supervisor – Band 6 Nurse Practitioner – Hybrid Working

Who We Are

As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services.

Where We Are:

This role will be offered on a Hybrid working basis which involves both home and in office working.

Our Regional Centres are located at Hillington, Cardonald, Clydebank, South Queensferry, Dundee and Aberdeen. This opportunity is available in our Aberdeen regional centre only.

  • To be considered for this role your nearest regional centre must not be easily accessible to you currently for long term commute
  • You will have a private space at home where you can work free from distractions and to ensure confidentiality is maintained
  • A strong/stable internet connection with a suitable download speed to work from home without any interruptions
  • Training will be in centre so successful candidates will be required to travel for the duration of training and until signed off in the role (approx. first 3 – 6 months)
  • Successful candidates will be provided will all ICT equipment to fulfil the role working from home

This Role:

  • As the service has evolved, we have been introducing new ways of working and there is now a unique opportunity for Nurses to perform high quality telephone assessments, but also to provide Clinical Supervision to members within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Act as an autonomous practitioner providing a comprehensive telephone triage and clinical assessment service to patients and/or their carers/relatives resulting in a safe and appropriate clinical decision
  • Facilitate the provision of accurate healthcare information, self-care/health improvement advice or, where applicable, referral to the appropriate level and location of care, in order to meet the holistic and therapeutic requirements of the patient/carer
  • You will predominantly use our Online Telephone Support model to deliver clinical supervision to non- clinical staff
  • You will be continually supported and provided with coaching from Senior Clinicians within the department

Who are we looking for?

  • You will be registered as an Adult nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register
  • You will possess excellent clinical decision-making skills, with the ability to provide continuous clinical supervision, engagement, and leadership remotely
  • Extensive post registration experience, preferably within an acute or primary care setting, with a broad range of knowledge across a number of specialties
  • Critical decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-disciplined with excellent time management
  • Suitable homeworking environment where you can fulfil your responsibility to follow strict Data Protection and ICT Security policy guidelines

Our Enhanced Salary Package

NHS 24 offers a total reward package, with a permanent contract on Band 6 £37,831 - £46,100* (pro rata for part-time hours).   Placement on salary scale is dependent on confirmation of previous relevant NHS service.

Competitive salary enhancements for working unsocial hours are in addition to the above basic starting salary of £37,831, this means that the following hourly rates would be applicable -

  • Basic Hourly Rate of £19.34
  • Saturday / After 8pm Weekday Hourly Rate of £25.15
  • Sunday / Public Holiday Hourly Rate of £30.95

Earning Potential Example

As NHS 24 is predominately an out of hours employer, this means that actual earnings will include payments made for working evenings, nights, weekend shifts and public holidays.

 As an example, Clinical Supervisors, on a starting salary of £37,831 working 24 or 30 hours rotas with 5 out of 8 weekends, could expect to receive estimated earning as follows -

NHS 24 shift patterns command an average uplift of 33% in addition to the basic salary.  Dependant on individual shift patterns, this information is indicative only, and cannot be taken as guaranteed.

Start dates will be dependent on all pre-employment checks being completed and availability on our induction training programme.
