What you will do:

Be accountable for leading the operational management of Clinical Support Services and providing a high quality and cost-effective service incorporating:-

Domestic/Housekeeping/Portering/Security/Gardens & Grounds/Waste Management/storage facilities/Patients Personal Laundry, Linen/Sewing/Hairdressing, Allocation and management of residential accommodation, Sterile Instrument Distribution. 

Have direct responsibility for the provision and management of multiple services across multiple sites within budgetary constraints and ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, legislative and Health & Safety requirements, ensuring the delivery of cost effective, efficient services which underpin and support both clinical and non clinical services.

Work with the Head of Clinical Support Services and other Senior Managers in the delivery of high quality non-clinical support services, which meet nationally set standards and legislative requirements, in support of direct patient care.

Provide specialist technical advice within and out with organisation in relation to areas of expertise to ensure National statutory requirements are met.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in Hotel Services/business management
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management to post graduate diploma level or equivalent
  • Specialist technical knowledge and experience of managing a diverse workforce, preferably within a large organisation.
  • Food Hygiene Regulations certificate
  • Member of relevant professional association

Knowledge of :

  • NHS Scotland Cleaning Specification/ Portering Standards/ Environmental Management relevant to job
  • Awareness of Caldicott Guidelines (confidentiality)
  • Human Resource  legislation including implementation of policies and procedures
  •  Knowledge and experience of all Hotel Services staff training requirements
  • Health & Safety Regulations e.g. Risk Management, COSHH, Fire Safety, Moving and Handling, Violence & Aggression, etc
  • Cross-contamination and Infection Control Guidance
  • Safe transportation and legislation on Dangerous Goods
  • Security Systems and legal requirements relating to the use of such systems
  • Waste Management Regulations

Skills in:

  • Microsoft computer packages i.e. word, excel etc.
  • Supporting staff at difficult times
  • Communication/Negotiation
  • Complaints procedures
  • Time management
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills (Customer/Client relationships)
  • Full Driving License
  • Interviewing skills – recruitment & selection
  • Ability to reason and interpret from varied sources of information
  • Presentation skills
