​​​​​​​A number of opportunities have arisen for Porter / Drivers to join our busy Portering Team on a permanent basis at the Kirkcaldy Victoria & Whytemans Brae Hospital sites. Hours available are 22.5 hours and Bank (0 hours – as and when required).

The Portering service operates 24 hours, 7 days per week. All positions working hours can be altered and determined by the service delivery of the department requirements. 

Porter / Drivers duties vary from patient movement throughout the hospital, collection and delivery of specimens, delivery of stores, meal trolley, linen lockers, parcels and pharmacy to wards and departments. Waste uplift and exchanging of bins, including clinical hospital waste. Porters can walk a high number of miles on a daily basis. Manual handling element and assisting with maintaining a safe clean working environment for the delivery of the services at all times. Understanding and follow health & safety procedures.

You must have good communication skills, and have a caring & compassionate attitude given the nature of the role interacting with patients, wards, department, members of the public, colleagues and other NHS staff members. 

A clean full UK driving license is required to enable you to drive NHS Fife vehicles, and also electric tugs to transport items internally within the Hospital.

Full training, and one to one coaching supplied, including attendance at all mandatory training course.
