An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Psychology team for care-experienced children and young people. This is a Psychology service within Falkirk City Council that is part of a wider Psychological Service within NHS Forth Valley.
We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic Clinical or Counselling Psychologists’ to work within this speciality and would welcome applications from candidates nearing qualification, part-time workers and/or staff interested in split posts. Applications from newly qualified staff are welcomed.
NHS Forth Valley CAMHS is a well established service with a new senior management team. The psychology team is organised into sub-specialities with psychological leadership and specialist clinical supervision within each area of expertise. We offer multiple therapeutic modalities including: CBT, IPT, FBT, Systemic Family Therapy, ABA, EMDR, Art Therapy and ACT, which are professionally governed by Psychological Services, NHS Forth Valley.
As part of a service level agreement between NHS Forth Valley CAMHS and Falkirk Council, this post forms part of a clinical psychology service providing a bespoke and effective mental health service to care experienced children looked after by Falkirk Council. Under the supervision of a clinical psychologist, this role involves direct work with young people, as well as working collaboratively with CAMHS and the supporting network, providing consultation, teaching and training, e.g. foster carers, residential workers and social workers.
NHS Forth Valley Psychology staff receive regular clinical and operational supervision, supportive line management, including job planning. As part of job planning, all staff are supported to develop and establish areas of specialist clinical interest and we have a varied in-house programme of clinical CPD. We also have have very good links with national bodies and close links with training courses and offer placements to trainees from the Doctoral, EPP and MSc courses.
Candidates must have a Post Graduate Doctoral level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical/Counselling Psychology, be registered with the HCPC and have experience of working with children and young people with complex problems. Experience or training in relation to neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma, and attachment models would be an advantage.
