The Post:
Are you a strategic finance leader? Would you relish helping ensure Public Health Scotland (PHS) is best placed to use its resources to improve Scotland’s population health and tackle inequalities? This post, Chief Office Finance for PHS, will shape the strategic direction of Public Health Scotland from a financial perspective. The role will provide strategic finance leadership to the PHS Chief Executive, the Director of Strategy, Governance & Performance and the PHS Executive Team. A key objective of this new role will be to shape and drive the implementation of a financial strategy for PHS that enables the delivery of the organisation’s vision, strategy and business plans Public Health Scotland’s strategic plan 2022 to 2025.
This post is embedded in PHS and reports professionally to the Director of Finance, Corporate Governance & Legal Services for National Services Scotland (NSS) and operationally to the Director of Strategy, Governance and Performance for PHS. The post holder will be employed by NSS.
The Candidate:
A qualified accountant with a strong track record in all aspects of financial management, you will operate effectively at a strategic and corporate level and thrive in an ever-changing environment.
You will have considerable post-qualifying experience that covers all aspects of finance service delivery within a complex organisation, including experience in a Senior Finance Manager role, involving significant budgetary responsibility. You should also be able to demonstrate additional training through Continuous Professional Development.
You must be experienced in establishing and maintaining a high level of credibility with key internal and external stakeholders and service users including Directors and Senior Managers.
Some experience of leading the delivery of finance services in a shared services environment would be a distinct advantage.

Location and working pattern:
Flexible Location – Hybrid working practices in place. Some travel to our offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow may be required.
Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident in the UK.
