The Directorate of Research & Innovation (R &I) within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is led by Professor Julie Brittenden. This post will be based in the clinical research facility at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary and will be supervised by Professor Julie Brittenden.
Glasgow has a worldwide reputation as a centre of excellence for medical research and innovation. Over 10,000 participants are recruited annually to more than 900 clinical research studies. R&I have brought in over 3 million pounds in commercial research activity and collaborated with industry and academic partners to secure 19Million worth of Innovation funding.
The paediatric post is associated with the Clinical Research Facilities (CRF) within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Royal hospital for Children, Glasgow. The CRF clinical research fellows will work in association with the associate director, CRF Paediatric clinical lead and the multidisciplinary CRF team to contribute to the delivery of clinical research for studies which are active within the CRF. They will also work closely with designated Chief and Principal investigators to undertake the various activities involved in recruitment, consent, investigation, pharmacovigilance and follow-up of patients within the breadth and range of paediatric clinical trials. Full time and part-time post will be considered depending on the successful applicants preferences.
These posts are best suited for trainees who have completed basic core training. As part of the Clinical research Facility team they will attend the weekly team meeting. They will provide medical support to the clinical research nurses working within the unit for high profile clinical trials.
The CRF Paediatric clinical research fellow will be required to successfully complete training in consent and Good Clinical Practice to ensure that the rights, safety and well-being of patients and the high quality of the research data is maintained within the CRF. Full funding of these courses will be provided through the CRF. The CRF clinical research fellows will be required to attend a CRF induction programme, and comply with formal supervisory and assessment processes in regard to both their clinical and research activities. Supervision will be jointly between the CRF Associate Director and the CRF manager. The post will provide the opportunity for the successful applicant to develop expertise in all aspects of delivering clinical research and working to protocol, an understanding of pharmacovigilence and research governance
