Part Time - 24 hours per week

Band 4 Salary Range: £27,598-£30,019 per annum pro rata *

Distant Island Allowance of £2,256 per annum (pro rata)


An exciting job opportunity has arisen within our service for a dynamic, enthusiastic practitioner to join us to support the Children’s Occupational Therapy team in service delivery and administrative support for the Children and families of Shetland. The following skills would be beneficial but not essential all training will be considered. If you enjoy developmental playing and working with Young People and their families, this may be for you.


You may be expected to communicate clinical information effectively and appropriately with children and their carers using a range of verbal, non-verbal, written and presentation skills. This may involve conveying terminology into lay terms to facilitate understanding and participation with occupational therapy treatment.


Provide and receive information to/from children/carers regarding assessment and treatment to encourage participation, within the framework of OT. Encourage and motivate children to maximise treatment outcome recognising those who are in discomfort, are afraid or reluctant and require reassuring, motivating and persuading to comply with treatment. Utilise appropriate methods and aids when working children within groups for either education or therapeutic purposes
