This is a great opportunity to join our dynamic dietetic team which provides a clinical dietetic service in a range of specialist areas to Children and Adults both in the Community and Acute across Fife.  Induction and training will be provided for your transition into your new role.

We are looking for a Dietetic Assistant in Fife. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a keen interest in nutrition to join the Older People’s Dietetic Team as a Dietetic Assistant. Induction and training will be provided for your transition into your new role.
The successful candidate will assist the dietetic team in the care of patients referred from the medicine of the elderly wards, care homes and community clinics. The team is based at Cameron Hospital. Duties will be carried out across all community hospital sites as required and may include domiciliary visits.
The team will delegate work and provide supervision to the post holder. You will work alongside our existing 0.8wte dietetic assistant. Clinical duties include direct patient contact collecting relevant nutritional information, assistance with the implementation and monitoring of the dietitians’ nutritional recommendations, liaison with nursing and other hospital staff including catering and community health care staff and Care Homes. Administrative tasks include telephone calls to patients, carers, and other service users, responding to telephone and email enquiries, arranging electronic orders for prescribed nutritional products and documenting in electronic patient records. Responsibility will also include stock control of prescribed nutritional products. There will be opportunity to participate in quality improvement initiatives and develop resources within the team.
You may also be involved in Health Promotion and other training activities within the department.
Essential skills required include good communication, proficient with IT, team player and flexible approach to work environment and an ability to travel between sites. The Nutrition & Clinical Dietetic Service: 
This is a Fife wide service providing a range of Dietetic Care to a Children and Adults in both Community and Acute Hospitals. The Service is currently arranged into clinical teams for; Acute, Adult Weight Management & Child Healthy Weight, Diabetes, Mental Health & Learning Disabilities, Nutritional Support, Older People, and Infant Nutrition & Paediatrics.  There is also specialist Dietitians working in the Health Promotion Food & Health Teams.  Fife has a Non-Prescribing Ordering Model (Off Script) for Oral Nutritional Supplements and Enteral Feeds. Our service also includes Non-Medical Prescribing Dietitians.

The Dietetic Service takes both undergraduate and graduate Dietetic students for B & C programmes each year, involving staff in the delivery and organisation of the programmes. The Service runs regular Training sessions and supports staff in their continuing professional development.  The Service has good administration support, Information Technology, social media, and online resources. A move to electronic records will commence later in 2023.
