The Post:
The role of the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is to protect the people of Scotland from infectious and environmental hazards; enable high-quality clinical and public health knowledge, research and innovation; and change clinical and public health practice by using audits at a national and local level.
The Clinical Protecting Health Directorate are seeking to appoint a Nurse Consultant for the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Implementation Support Team (MIST). This is a unique opportunity to be part of a national team working to help reduce drug related deaths in Scotland.
You will be a member of an innovative multiagency team working directly with local partners in Alcohol and Drug Partnerships to support the implementation and evaluation of an improvement approach with substance use services. The aim is to increase access, choice and quality of care for medication assisted treatment – as set out in the MAT Standards.
The Candidate:
The postholder will work with the MIST clinical lead and will lead across the MIST programme collaborating with colleagues both internal and external.
You will have strong communications skills, experience of partnership working and experience in alcohol and/or substance abuse.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.
Location and Working Pattern:
Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Central Quay, Glasgow.
Please note that PHS is currently in the process of relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow from early 2024.
This post is a permanent post and will be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh. PHS operate a hybrid working model with a mixture of working at home and days in the office each week.
There will be an expectation to travel occasionally to local areas for some meetings and events.
Work Pattern - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
