A fantastic opportunity to come and work in the stunning far North Highlands of Scotland, based at a small friendly Community Hospital, right on the famous Route NC500!  Caithness is a remote and rural region at the top of Scotland with a population of 25,400 people covering 700 square miles, renowned for its beaches, surfing and wildlife, culture and safety.

As we transform our Nutrition and Dietetic Services, we have a rare opportunity for an experienced HCPC Registered Dietitian to work across the Community and acute sectors in Caithness.  If you enjoy holding a wide and varied caseload, which offers plenty of opportunities for multi-disciplinary working, which you can shape and develop, then this is the post for you!

You will be based at the Dunbar Hospital, which is a community hospital in Thurso, and you will also provide a service to a community hospital and a rural general hospital in Wick.  The community caseload is varied which, you will have the autonomy to manage - providing a dietetic service to those who may be inpatients, outpatients, living in a care home or at home, and includes the full range of therapeutic dietary interventions. The caseload is mainly adults and also includes some paediatric work, and there is access to a range of specialties within dietetics for support and onward referral. There are plenty of opportunities for service improvement, project and community development work. 

You will be part of the north NHS Highland Nutrition and Dietetic service and as such will have the benefit of a wide range of skills, knowledge and support with inter- departmental supervision and peer learning. We support dietetic student placements. We are developing innovative and trauma informed approaches to health and well-being, especially in regard to diabetes and weight.

Candidates will require post registration experience ideally within a multi-disciplinary team setting and we can support those who are new to community work.  A post graduate qualification in Non-Medical Prescribing is desirable for this post, and you would be supported to achieve this. This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week, to be worked in accordance with service requirements.
