The Post:
As part of the Scottish Government Cancer Recovery Plan the Scottish Government commissioned NSS to establish a Scottish Cancer Network. The two agreed key functions of the Scottish Cancer Network, delivered through regular engagement with key stakeholders, including territorial boards, regional cancer networks and Medical Directors, is to:
• Develop and operate a national system for the production and review of Clinical Management Pathways (CMPs)
• Oversee and drive improvement of existing National Managed Clinical Networks, and adopting similar national network approaches for other tumour sites that may benefit
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the Lead Clinician for the Scottish Cancer Network to further expand and build on the progress and momentum built to date with Clinical Management Pathways.
The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership and subject matter expertise for the delivery of CMPs and SACT related workstreams within the Scottish Cancer Network. This role will include working collaboratively with senior colleagues and clinicians within Health Boards, Regional Networks, National Groups and Scottish Government. The ideal candidates will have significant cancer experience and knowledge of medicines policy, SACT governance and the wider cancer landscape. They will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and demonstrable experience of working at a strategic level, providing effective professional leadership and facilitating change to improve services The post holder must have an ability to devise, implement and monitor a range of engagement strategies to reach consensus across a wider range of partners.
The Candidate
This is both an exciting and challenging role that requires excellent skills in leadership and managing change in a complex, and dynamic environment. This post will include supporting, developing and line managing a new role for an advanced cancer pharmacist within the team. Applicants must be able to work autonomously and in a self-directed way, and be adaptable and amenable to rapid change in priority, approach or focus in order to effectively work with our key stakeholders.
Candidates must have current GPhC registration at the time of applying.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern:
This post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow. Please note that we currently operate a hybrid working policy so staff can also work from home and/or in the office.
The role is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, and this can either be fulfilled as one full-time post, or more than one candidate on a job-share or part-time arrangement.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
