NEUROPROGRESSIVE AND DEMENTIA RESEARCH NETWORK (NDN)

 CLINICAL STUDIES OFFICER, Band 6

22.5 hours per week

BASED at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Fixed Term/Secondment for one year in the first instance

The Neuroprogressive and Dementia Research Network is an established organisation funded by the Chief Scientist Office.  Our primary aim is to support and facilitate the conduct and delivery of clinical trials in dementia and neurodegenerative diseases within the NDN portfolio.  Catriona McNeill is the Senior Clincial Studies Officer based in NHS GG&C.

The post holder will assist with recruitment and study assessments in other clinical studies within the NDN portfolio, primarily in GG&C but occasionally from other areas within neighbouring Health Boards.  Very occasionally you may be required to work at some distance from GG&C if the demands of a particular study require this.  You will be involved with the assessment and management of the research pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical studies under the auspices of the network.  You will be required to liaise with clinical teams dealing with the clinical care of the patient and carer concerned.

Hours of work: 37.5hrs full time. This is a fixed term contract for 1 year in the first instance but it is anticipated that period may be extended subject to review.

Graduate *midwives *radiographers *podiatrists will be supported to develop skills and competencies which will allow them to operate as autonomous practitioners with limited supervision of their clinical work.  In accordance with Agenda for Change Annex T, skills to perform autonomously at Band 6 level must be developed within 12 to 24 months after starting employment at Band 5 level.     

You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.  

*You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the NMC Register
