Health Promotion Assistant - We have a full-time (37.5 hour) post and a part-time (18.75 hour) post available.

Fixed Term posts until 31/03/2025

The Role

The postholder will contribute to the development and operational delivery of a wide range of health improvement programmes within the Tobacco, Alcohol and Other Substances Team, with the overall of aim of improving health and reducing health inequalities in line with local and nationally identified public health priorities.  The postholder will have responsibility for supporting delivery of this portfolio of work under the direction of the Senior Health Promotion Officer. 

Including but not exhaustive:

  • Contributing ideas to the planning meetings for the project and undertaking tasks set by the project lead once the project plan is established.
  • Planning and coordinating the administration of project related events such as conferences, training events and launches.
  • Staffing high profile events such as No Smoking Day, Alcohol Awareness Week, Staff Health & Wellbeing or Mental Health Week and providing the general public with a basic level of information on a specific topic (full training will be provided in this respect).
  • Contribution to the distribution, collation and basic level analysis of project evaluation surveys and audits.
  • Providing Admin support to the team.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Be a self-motivated team player with prior experience of secretarial work including general office administration.
  • Postholders will be required to undertake regular training and learning opportunities to ensure the knowledge and skills required for the post are up-to-date.
  • Car driver with valid UK driving licence


It would be great if you also have

  • Experience working in an environment which has required skills in communication, multi tasking, time management, forward planning and using own initiative.
  • Desktop publishing skills preferred.


Contract type

Fixed Term until 31/03/2025

Full time and Part Time opportunities are available

37.5 or 18.75 hours

Please note the salary for the part-time position will be pro-rata.

Please note this is a fixed term post until 31/03/2025. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
