Are you looking for the next step in your healthcare career? Do you want to develop, work with people and really make a difference? Could this be the training opportunity and role you've been looking for?
Within Perth & Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership, we are expanding opportunities for Healthcare Support Workers to develop and progress into the role of an Assistant Practitioner. These are new, exciting and innovative roles supported with education and training from both the NHS Tayside Practice Development Team and Perth College. Successful applicants will be supported to complete a HNC Healthcare Practice at Perth College. The duration of the training period is approximately 1 year and the course commences 2024/2025.
As an Assistant Practitioner you will work within the 4 pillars of professional practice, working towards having your own case allocation and delivering high quality, patient-centred care. You must be able to communicate effectively, reporting directly to a Registered Nurse and your role will require you to supervise and support other healthcare practitioners and learners
You must be able to work to a high academic ability. You must work well in a high pressure environment and have the ability to adapt to changing situations.
Please note that these positions require the successful applicants to work a variety of shifts, including weekends (once the service is fully operational).
The Hospital at Home service is progressing as part of a Strategic National Project and will form part of our Integrated Community and Urgent Care Service response to the people of Perth and Kinross.
The ethos of this generic role, which will work across Nursing and Allied Health Professional services, is to deliver a person centred approach to support people to remain at home or in a homely setting. The multidisciplinary Hospital at Home approach provides rapid assessment and short-term treatment service with the dual aim of providing a level of acute hospital care in an individual’s own home that is equivalent to that provided within a hospital, consequently reducing pressure on acute inpatient services.
There will be a clear multidisciplinary team approach and close working with the Locality Integrated Teams across Perth and Kinross.
This will include carrying out specific delegated clinical tasks and procedures and responsibilities to a high standard, taking into consideration the specific needs of the targeted population.
We are looking for individuals who have previous experience of working as a support worker. The ability to work well within a team is essential as well as the ability to work without direct supervision. You will need to have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills and be able to motivate service users.
You will be required to comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout your employment. Information on the Healthcare Support Worker Regulations can be found on NHS Tayside microsite on Staffnet>Our Websites>Healthcare Support Workers.
