The Post:
In Public Health Scotland’s Strategy, Governance & Performance directorate, the Strategy & Transformation team is at the heart of Scotland’s national public health body.  We lead and support PHS to set and deliver its strategic direction and transform as an organisation to realise its potential.  

We are looking to appoint six Strategy & Transformation Organisational Lead(s) in either Strategy and Policy or Transformation and Innovation Teams within PHS’s Strategy, Governance & Performance directorate.

Planning, Performance and Risk, this post is responsible for leading the planning, performance and risk team. 

Chair and Chief Executive, this post provides support to Chair and Chief Executive office. This is a temporary post for one year. 

Improvement, this post is responsible for leading the improvement and project office teams. 

Transformation, this post is responsible for leading the transformation team including the implementation of the recent service review. 

Portfolio, this post is responsible for leading the maturation of our organisational portfolio and will be the professional lead for portfolio, programme and project management. 

Innovation, this post has an emerging remit and will be responsible for supporting Public Health Scotland’s Vital Initiative on Innovation.  

You will be joining a dynamic team, working to effect change to improve outcomes for people in communities and to develop and enable a Public Health Scotland culture with a focus on impact and solutions.

The Candidate:

The post-holders should have expert specialist knowledge in one of the areas outlined which will have been acquired through degree level education or equivalent experience.

The posts will report directly to either the Organisational Lead for Policy and Strategy or Organisational Lead for Transformation and Innovation.

Location and Working Pattern:
The post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Central Quay, Glasgow.

Please note that PHS is currently in the process of relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow from early 2024.

Public Health Scotland operate a hybrid model, working both at home and in the office.

Applicants on any working pattern, between Monday to Friday, are welcome to apply for this post though it will be important that the candidate is able to attend key meetings.

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
