An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Mental Health Improvement Portfolio within Healthcare Improvement Scotland as the Professional Lead on a programme that seeks to create an exemplar operational protocol which sets out how mental health and substance use services should work together. This protocol and subsequent implementation at the local level will support delivery of Recommendation 1 of The Way Ahead: Recommendations to the Scottish Government from the Rapid Review of Co-Occurring Substance Use and Mental Health Conditions in Scotland.
The successful candidate will provide advice to aid delivery of the aims and objectives of this programme. The role will involve working with senior leadership teams in NHS boards, health and social care partnerships, and with key national partners.
Candidates must be an experienced mental health and care professional, with extensive knowledge of mental health services, care services and/or substance use services. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be fundamental to success in this role, as well as the ability to build strong clinical and professional networks. In addition, candidates will have experience and knowledge of Scottish health and social care systems and structures. As this is a national role, travel throughout Scotland may be required.
