The Role

37.5 hours - Psychotherapy South, based in Carluke Health Centre
22.5 hours - Psychotherapy South, based in Carluke Health Centre
18.75 hours - Psychotherapy North, Coatbridge Health Centre

A rare but exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Nurse Therapists within NHS Lanarkshire Psychotherapy teams.  The successful candidates will work as autonomous practitioners providing specialist assessment, formulation and psychotherapy treatment packages for patients with complex mental health problems within an out patient clinic setting.

NHSL Psychotherapy have two teams, one based in Coatbridge Health Centre in North Lanarkshire, and the other based in Carluke Health Centre in South Lanarkshire.  There are currently vacancies in both services.

The successful candidates will work as part of a wider team of nursing colleagues and medical staff including the Clinical Lead, Consultant Psychiatrist and psychiatric trainees, and will facilitate multi disciplinary working, liaising closely with referring agencies.

Additional Information Specific to the Role

The successful candidates will be employed as substantive band 7 Senior Nurse Therapists if already in possession of formal training in a recognised (COSCA, UKCP or BACP) psychodynamic therapy of 2 years or more.

The posts may also be offered as developmental roles under annex 21, to those who do not have the recognised qualification but are committed to undertaking a 2 year post grad diploma in psychodynamic therapy.  On successful completion of the training, post holders will become substantive band 7 Senior Nurse Therapists.  *Please note – post holders undertaking this training will require to engage in personal therapy*

What we'll need you to bring

 Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration

Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level

Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently. 

Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.

Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.

Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development

Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification

The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative

Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.

Effective time management skills

Working knowledge of basic information technology

It would be great if you also have 

Group analytic psychotherapy training

Completion of NES generic supervision

Experience working autonomously providing  individual & group therapy in a recognised therapeutic modality

Experience working in a psychotherapy department

For annex 21/development post – formal training or experience in a foundation skills level psychodynamic therapy or mentalisation based therapy
