The Post:
The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is the specialist provider of transfusion medicine in , supplying high quality blood, tissues, products and services across the country. With Transfusions Centres in Inverness, , Dundee, Edinburgh and , SNBTS work with communities, hospitals and professionals to ensure that the donor’s gift is used wisely and effectively for the benefit of patients. We are seeking to appoint a Donor Recruitment and Publicity Officer to the Donor Marketing and Engagement Department, reporting to the Donor Publicity Manager.
The Candidate:
The Donor Recruitment and Publicity Officer will be responsible for the recruitment, retention, and engagement of blood donors within the Edinburgh, Lothians and Fife area. You will be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of the recruitment and publicity activity to support the Donor Relationship Management strategy and the implementation of plans that will ensure the tactical donor relationship and retention goals are met. You will communicate effectively with donors and non-donors across the region in a wide variety of ways, by delivering school talks, implementing local marketing plans, social media, web updates, engaging with various community groups and contacting blood donors directly via pro-active phone calls, letters, and various other forms of communication. You will make a significant contribution to achieving the strategic goals of SNBTS by delivering a world-class blood strategy that delivers value for money and meets the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland.
You will be highly motivated with strong problem-solving skills. You will have excellent communication skills and will be adept at communicating with a wide variety of people on many different levels. You will be familiar with creating a wide variety of presentation materials and you will be a confident public speaker. You will be educated to degree in a relevant subject.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern:
The base location for this post is Edinburgh.
The work pattern is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
