The NHS Lothian Primary Care Pharmacy and Medicines Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. Pharmaceutical care is provided by a team of around 100 pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and administrators, working across General Practices covering the whole of Edinburgh.

Who you are:

You are a self-motivated, driven and enthusiastic, GPhC registered pharmacy technician. The post requires S(N)VQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, and HNC Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualifications to the same level.

You will already be working within a GP practice as a pharmacy technician or have community/hospital pharmacy background and have transferrable skills for the role.  You must be innovative, with strong leadership skills to manage and support the pharmacy team in primary care.  You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support patient care, staff management and engagement and close working with GP Practice Teams.   You should always be promoting NHS Lothian's values of quality, teamwork, care and compassion, dignity and respect, and openness, honesty and responsibility. You will have experience of involvement in the development and education of others.

The ideal candidate will need to work closely with the existing Lead Pharmacy Technician to help develop a strategic plan for the technician workforce, identify and support training and development and harness a positive working environment for the team to thrive within.

The interview process will include a first stage, virtual, competency based interview and a second stage, in-person task where you will be working alongside existing members of the team on a problem solving task.
