£56,992 - £61,522 (Band 8A) – pro rata for part-time hours

Part-time (18.75 hours per week)

Fixed term contract/secondment to November 2024

Edinburgh or Glasgow (with travel throughout Scotland) – hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and positive individual to be part of the delivery of an innovative programme to support the work of the Nursing and Systems Improvement Directorate within Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a national programme to deliver the Health & Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019; ensuring that at all times, suitably qualified and competent individuals from such a range of professional disciplines as necessary, are working in such numbers as are appropriate for the health, wellbeing and safety of patients or service users, and the provision of high-quality health care for individuals across Scotland.

As a Senior Programme Advisor you will provide NHS Boards with expert professional advice in workload and workforce planning. In addition, you will lead on the development and maintenance of the workload and workforce planning tools and support their application across NHS Scotland. These tools are an essential element of the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019. 

You will be a registered healthcare professional (with appropriate professional body), have senior management and leadership experience in the NHS, be educated to Masters Level or have equivalent experience and will have expert knowledge of workload and workforce planning tools and methodology. Knowledge and skills in Quality Improvement methodology would be desirable.

Regular travel throughout Scotland may also be required for this role (including overnight stays).
