Practice Educator (PE)
Band 7, Integrated Specialist Care Portfolio (Critical Care)
1 year fixed term (30 hours)
Do you have extensive experience in Critical Care and want to support and facilitate education and learning within the service as part of the Practice Education & Development Team?
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Practice Educator post - fixed term of 1 year (30 hours). The post will be aligned to Critical Care, the post-holder should be able to work within clinical areas alongside learners occasionally using work based learning to support learners and new practitioners to develop clinical skills. We are seeking a motivated, innovative Registered Nurse to be part of the Integrated Specialist Care Portfolio Practice Education & Development Team, led by a Lead Practice Educator. The post-holder will work together with the team to support pre and post registration training and education within the Critical Care areas. The post-holder should hold a post-registration academic qualification in Critical Care or have an extensive Critical Care background and experience in Critical Care, in line with Critical Care guidelines.
The post-holder should have excellent care values, enthusiasm to work as part of a team and the motivation to learn and develop self and colleagues within an exciting and challenging high pressure environment. We are looking for someone who is dynamic and forward thinking in their approach and focused on providing safe, effective, person-centred practice.
Applicants should be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and,
- Have extensive experience in Critical Care with a post-registration Critical Care qualification
- Have extensive experience at Band 6 or above in posts which included supporting, supervising and assessing learners
- Be a current Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to motivate and influence change, using highly developed interpersonal and diplomacy skills
- Have a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching or relevant recognised education qualification
- Have previous teaching experience with involvement in developing and using educational resources
- Have Leadership/Management experience as a Band 6 or 7
- Have knowledge & skills to execute, analyse and disseminate research and audit projects
The post-holder will be required to work closely with, and be supported by, the Senior Practice Education & Development Team.
PLEASE NOTE: A Post Graduate Teaching Certificate is an essential requirements for this role. Candidates who do not currently hold this qualification, but are committed to achieving the qualifications would be considered. If appointed to the role without this qualification, the post will be offered under the terms of Annex 21, Agenda for Change arrangements for pay and banding of trainees to allow for successful completion.
On successful completion, the Annex 21 would be removed. In the unlikely event that there is a failure to complete the course in the anticipated timescales, this would result in not meeting the essential criteria that the post requires. In this case the fixed term or secondment contract would be terminated and candidate would return to substantive post.
