Orthopaedics, Paediatrics
Base: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP)
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
The posts will be based at Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP) The unit is well supported by specialist Radiology, Pathology, and Surgical Services. The service also has close links to the University of Edinburgh. The Paediatric Orthopaedic service is a Lothian wide service and the person appointed may be required to work at other sites by the needs of the service.
Duties & responsibilities:
This fixed term post has arisen in the RHCYP Orthopaedic team in response to service requirements. Commitments of this post will be split between the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP), Edinburgh, and St John’s Hospital Livingston with the greater level of service at RHCYP. The post is available from 01 January 2024, for 6 months from the successful candidates start date. The post holder will join an established and experienced team of Paediatrics Orthopaedic doctors. The standard week will include one paediatric fracture outpatient clinic, elective operating, trauma operating list and contribution to out of hours on-call rota. The successful applicant will have a range of clinical experience 6 -12 months sub specialty training in paediatric orthopaedics. Level 2 Child Protection training is essential.

- Learning and continuous professional development
- Licence to practice. Additional post-graduate qualifications, e.g. MD/ PhD/MSc desirable.
- Clinical experience 6 -12 months sub specialty training in paediatric orthopaedics.
