Job Advert

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are looking to recruit GPs interested in joining An Caorann, our friendly, well organised practice with two branches in rural Portsoy and Aberchirder. We think this is a great opportunity for someone who wants to feel part of shaping their workplace, without the burden of risk and administration that partnership can bring.

We are an established 2c Practice and are part of a group of three 2c practices in the area.  AHSCP have put considerable effort into supporting each practice, with proactive steps being made to bring them closer together in terms of working practices and mutual support. Dedicated individuals providing GP, ANP and Pharmacy clinical leadership, support and mentoring have become a large part of that and will continue.  We have had support from stable long term locums and are keen to consolidate the team on a longer term basis.

We would welcome applications from those willing to work on a full-time, part-time, job share, annualised hours and/or 4, 8 or 12 week block working basis.  We recognise the importance of work/life balance and want to engage with clinicians who appreciate this for themselves and the people they work with.

The salary is £69,993 - £104,469 per annum (pro rata if part-time) dependent on negotiation, though we are keen to ensure salaries are competitive. For those interested in taking up the post as Salaried Lead GP an additional £3,500 responsibility payment will be awarded to provide clinical leadership.

Our practice is set on the picturesque North-East coast of Scotland. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts with walking, water sports, multiple golf courses and wildlife watching opportunities nearby - all helping to contribute towards an important work/life balance. Portsoy is a scenic coastal harbour town, sometimes used for location filming.

We operate between the main site in Portsoy and branch in Aberchirder, with a practice population of 5,000.  Chalmers Community Hospital is 9 miles away with a Minor Injuries Unit and GP Medical Unit with full support services and visiting Consultant outpatient clinics. The Minor Injuries Unit can carry out near-patient testing and has telemedicine links to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

There is excellent clinical support with a team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Practice Pharmacists, First Point of Contact Physiotherapist, Practice and Community nursing and Care Management.

There may be opportunities to develop a special interest within this post, and we encourage collaboration and engagement in how the practice’s clinical services are delivered.

There is no out of hours commitment although sessions are available locally.

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org
