We are looking to recruit a talented and motivated individual to a non-training grade specialist doctor post in Public Health to join the Directorate of Public Health in NHS Highland. This is a new post where we are keen to broaden our range of staff and provide opportunities for non-training grade doctors within Public Health. The new post is available full time.

NHS Highland serves a total population of around 320,000. You will be based in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, renowned for its beauty and quality of life which offers a lifestyle only dreamt of in other parts of the country.

You will work in a small, friendly Health Protection Team which sits within the wider multi-disciplinary Public Health Directorate.

The post holder will primarily work with the HPT to provide specialist advice on all health protection issues including communicable diseases, infection prevention control, and environmental health hazards. They will be integral to the efforts of the Health Protection Team whose role is to ensure the health of the population in Highland is protected and promoted.

The training needs of the individual will be incorporated and the successful candidate will also benefit from a named clinical and educational supervisor. The post holder will participate in an on-call rota with full-time commitment following the requisite training period. There will also be opportunities to work in other areas of the Public Health team.

Applications are invited from doctors who hold full GMC registration and have completed foundation training.

In accordance with recent Home Office guidelines, doctors who require a work permit will only be appointed to post which cannot be filled by UK/EEA applicants or doctors who do not require work permits.

We would welcome early, informal discussions with all interested individuals.
