Perth Adult Psychological Therapies Service is looking to appoint Clinical or Counselling Psychologists.  We have a number of sessions available across 2 different services: our Adult Primary Care Service based at Murray Royal Hospital, and our Community Mental Health Teams which cover Perth and Kinross with bases in Crieff, Kinross, Perth City, Blairgowrie and Pitlochry.

The postholder will join an established team of psychological therapists which includes Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Associates and CBT Therapist.  Clinical work is varied and is inclusive of group and individual work.  We are constantly seeking to improve client care and welcome new ideas and clinical innovation.  We are also very supportive of CPD both supporting external applications and developing our in-house CPD. In addition the service regularly offers placements to trainees from the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course, the MSc in Applied Psychology course and the South of Scotland CBT course.  The postholder will be involved in the supervision of trainees.  The postholder will be based at Murray Royal Hospital, Perth. 

Working within our Community Mental Health Teams you will join a dedicated group of professions from Social Work, OT, Nursing and Psychiatry.  We have a number of work streams progressing to innovate and develop our services making them more effective for individuals to access in a timely manner.

There is also the potential for additional clinical work to provide psychological therapy to the Dundee and Angus Adult services which may be undertaken on a remote access basis.

Over recent years NHS Tayside has committed to increased investment in the Area Psychological Therapies Service. The Service now has a complement of around 160 clinical and applied staff with an additional 20 trainees.  Opportunity exists to combine a number of specialist posts to reflect career interests of suitable applicants. The Department provides a friendly, supportive and stimulating environment in which to work. Opportunities exist for involvement in teaching and research, taking advantage of close links with Universities of Dundee and Stirling. Members of the Department also contribute to the supervision and training of trainees on the Edinburgh/East and South of Scotland Clinical Teaching Course, the Universities of Stirling and Dundee MSc Course and the Child course.

Appointees will have successfully completed the Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and will be regulated by the Health Care Professions Council and be able to make a valuable contribution to the healthcare of adults in primary, secondary and tertiary care settings.   Appointees will have regular access to clinical supervision and work under the guidance of experienced Clinical and Counselling Psychologists.
