Full Time (37.5 Hours) and Part time (22.5 Hours)  Permanent Positions

We offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Orthoptist to join our friendly team of 8 Orthoptists, 9 Ophthalmologists and 7 Optometrists as well as Nursing and Administrative support based in the National Treatment Centre – Highland, Inverness.

We are a busy department covering the largest Health Board area in Scotland with a full complex caseload of all types of Orthoptic patients. We are also involved with the Glaucoma Monitoring Service.

The department also covers several peripheral clinics and provides a comprehensive Preschool Orthoptic Vision Screening Service throughout the remote and rural communities of the Highlands, Western Isles and Orkney. The post holder will therefore have the opportunity to see the Highlands of Scotland travelling by road, air and sea with occasional overnight stays to meet the service needs. There is therefore a requirement for the applicant to be flexible and adaptive to a variety of working environments and hours of work and a full driving licence is required.

The National Treatment Centre - Highland is a state of the art Eye Care Centre based on the University of Highlands & Islands Inverness Campus.  Taking a patient centred approach, we are continuously developing the service to meet the needs of our population and we are looking for compassionate thoughtful team players who want to extend their professional scope of practice working in a team environment where education and quality improvement are essential to service delivery.
