NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team within the context of a Perinatal Mental Health Team covering Greater Glasgow and Clyde area. The post holder will have responsibility for the specialist assessment of patient care needs and the development and evaluation of programmes of care during pregnancy and the first year postnatally. S/he will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals and in line with agreed standards and clinical policies.
In the absence of Nurse Team Leader, taking charge of the team and participating in the supervision and teaching of junior staff, both qualified and unqualified will be an important aspect of the role as will be the mentoring of nurses undergoing basic or post-basic training.
The post-holder will be expected to practice within a legal & ethical framework as defined by: -
- The Nursing & Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct,
- National mental health related legislation
- National and local policy, guidelines and protocols.
Registered in Mental Health Nursing with live NMC registration, the post-holder may practice within outpatient clinics, patients home and within a liaison role at maternity hospitals within Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
