This is an exciting opportunity for a specialist occupational therapist to join the Adult Community Mental Health Team (Helensburgh CMHT) within West Dunbartonshire.
The post offers the opportunity to be involved in shaping and developing the Occupational Therapy service and experience of service users through the delivery of core Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions. Essential to this post is an experienced Occupational Therapist who is confident with their core skills, has excellent verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative clinical style. Also required is a well developed knowledge of care of adults with mental health problems and appropriate interventions.
The Community Mental Health Team provides specialist intervention, advice and response to those individuals experiencing acute and enduring mental health issues. The postholder would work closely with MDT colleagues including nursing, psychiatry, psychology and social work. The postholder will carry out specialist core occupational therapy assessments and interventions using the Model of Human Occupation to underpin practice. There is an expectation that standardised assessment and tools will be considered during patient intervention to demonstrate the effectiveness of occupational therapy intervention.
The postholder will be responsible for making recommendations to facilitate safe and independent living, supporting clients with recovery through day structure including vocational rehabilitation, access to leisure, education and employability via individual and group work. Support and supervision is in place via the Lead Occupational Therapist. The band 6 occupational therapist has supervision responsibility for a band 5 occupational therapist within the multi-disciplinary team.
The post offers the opportunity to develop and lead on service improvement within the West Dunbartonshire Occupational Therapy service, linking with wider NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde developments.
The post holder will be registered with the HCPC and hold a degree in Occupational Therapy. A driving license is desirable.
This is a permanent post. The shift pattern for this post is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Applications will be considered for full time or part time hours and also job share options.
