An exciting opportunity has  arisen to join the Occupational Therapy Care of Elderly Team with University Hospital Hairmyres as an Assistant Practitioner (Band 4).
This will involve assessing, rehabilitation and discharge planning for this patient group, under supervision of senior staff within the Team.

The Role

  • Implement treatment programmes within hospital and community settings for individuals / groups of patients.
  • Undertake baseline assessments within clearly defined parameters for the Occupational Therapy service.
  • Use specialist technical and practical skills to deliver flexible, patient centred programmes.


Duties may vary depending on the care group / department or assigned area of work.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Formal qualification at HNC Level or equivalent level of experience in a health / education / social care environment plus short specialist courses relevant to specific clinical area.
  • Awareness of health legislation relevant to the clinical area.
  • Knowledge of the clinical speciality/area process, techniques and / or activities relevant to client group.
  • Ability to apply a range of technical and practical skillS.
  • Car driver with valid UK/EEA driving licence and access to own vehicle.

It would be great if you also have

  • Previous relevant work or voluntary experience.
  • Knowledge regarding the impact of illness or conditions on an individual.

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.


Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in the Occupational Therapy department within University Hospital Hairmyres .

The working pattern for this role is negotiable over 4 days Monday - Friday
