The Role


An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic and supportive Clydesdale Community Hospital occupational therapy team based at Kello Hospital. Using a variety of assessments and interventions the occupational therapy team provide assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients within a community hospital setting. Under the direction of the occupational therapist and the assistant practitioner the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing treatment plans to support patients to achieve their goals. This can include, but is not limited to, interventions such as personal care practice, transfer practice and kitchen practice. To support patients to achieve their goals the successful candidate will also be responsible for delivery of the occupational therapy led activity programme.

We are a compassionate team with a focus on team wellbeing and service development. We have a team wellbeing champion and we provide regular supervision, annual TURAS reviews and regular team meetings.

What we'll need you to bring

  • SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • To actively participate in the Personal Development Plan process to fulfil the requirements of continuing professional development.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • Valid Full UK driving licence


It would be great if you also have

  • Short courses relevant to the area of work
  • Previous relevant work or volunteer experience in a Health Social Care or Educational environment
  • Knowledge of and/or activities relevant to the client group
  • Understanding of the work routines and practices of Occupational Therapy
  • Ability to use initiative, be flexible and adapt to change
  • Creative and practical skills
  • Car driver with valid driving licence

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.


Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Occupational Therapy within Kello Hospital.

Please note this is an 18-hour post and due to service demands this would require to be worked over three days. Our team core hours are from 8am until 4.30pm and the post holder would require to work between these hours.
