Financial Controller

The Post:
An exciting opportunity has arisen which will provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to shine in a senior finance leadership role.
Reporting to the Associate Director Finance Operations, the post holder will lead the financial governance and control team and will be responsible for effective financial governance and control across NHS National Services Scotland and our customer boards ensuring compliance with our standing financial instructions and wider control framework.
The post holder will be responsible for:
• Interpreting and advising on technical accounting developments and ensuring necessary compliance with accounting standards and vat regulations.
• Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial accounting records.
• Leading the production of statutory annual accounts and liaison with external auditors.
• Regular review of internal systems, processes, policies and procedures to ensure are best in class.
• The development and expansion of the scope of customer focused services provided to National Services Scotland and other NHSScotland health boards.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong technical accounting skills and will have experience of financial management within a complex organisation. This is an excellent career opportunity and the successful candidate will be joining a dynamic finance team striving to bring financial expertise and solutions to support National Services Scotland and the wider NHS in Scotland.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern:
The role is based at Gyle Square, Edinburgh with hybrid working practices in place.
The work pattern is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
