The purpose of Healthcare Improvement Scotland is to ensure the people of Scotland experience the best quality of health and care.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative team player to help lead our organisation’s communications activity.

As a part of our management team, you will bring strategic thinking to deliver effective communications outputs for internal and external audiences, using a broad range of skills. You will support the identification and development of key corporate messages that promote the work of Healthcare Improvement Scotland, encouraging consistency in their use across the organisation and proactively seeking opportunities to further promote them.

You will have strong inter-personal skills and be adept at providing advice to senior staff on communications issues of a highly complex and often sensitive or controversial nature, including material that has significant commercial and political implications. As this post will have a strong digital communications focus, you will need to have considerable experience of website redevelopment, digital content creation, social media and inclusive communications and be able to use analytics and data to shape multimedia strategies and communications plans.

You will have the ability to develop, design and deliver a range of innovative and customer-focused communications plans to support the strategic and business objectives of Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

Able to demonstrate attention to detail in your work, you will be experienced across a range of communications skills, including the ability to write engaging and well-structured copy and social media content, handle media enquiries, and planning, implementing and measuring campaigns.

You will be able to grasp the bigger picture, clearly explain complex issues in an accessible way to a variety of stakeholders and be adept in the development of impactful key messages.

This post will suit someone who has experience in a busy and varied communications environment with an emphasis on digital communications.  You will be educated to degree level in an appropriate specialist discipline or have relevant experience in digital communications, public relations, journalism or within an in-house or agency role.
