Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

Within In-patient services the delivery of safe and effective care is paramount to our philosophy of care. We believe in preserving people’s dignity during their stay with us. We also believe in looking after our staff’s welfare and we are now keen to recruit Band 6 Charge Nurses to join our inpatient mental health clinical teams.  We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Charge Nurse to provide nursing leadership and specialist assessment, care and interventions for our patient group. You should have significant experience at Band 5 level or above.  We are looking for someone who has the knowledge and skills to assist the Senior Charge Nurse with the leadership and motivation of a team of registered and non-registered nursing staff. Participating in as well as providing regular Nurse Line Management Supervision, Clinical Supervision and undertaking line management responsibilities are critical aspects of the role.  Within this role you will have an opportunity to enhance your skills and access specific training to support your ongoing professional development. The post-holder will directly contribute to safe, efficient and person centred care and treatment and contribute to site page holding duties, which will require you to work across the mental health inpatient service to ensure nursing care meet the needs of the service.  It is essential you are a NMC registered Mental Health Nurse. You should have knowledge and experience of working with patients with Mental Health conditions and be able to demonstrate that you are able to fulfil the essential criteria required for this leadership and development role.  Additionally you should have the confidence to lead the team in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse.
You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and you must be computer literate.  Liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies will be a key part of your role. You will be expected to form excellent working relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff groups.  The ability to operate as a team member is an essential component to this role. Equally
important is the ability to treat people with dignity and respect and to act in a collaborative manner with service users, carers and varying staff groups.
