What you will do:
Working as part of our committed team, you will work closely with a range of medical and allied healthcare professionals within the specialist multidisciplinary teams based within Crosshouse Hospital, which is an easy commute from Glasgow. This service is well-established and highly valued by colleagues within paediatrics. You will work within the general paediatric service and will contribute to specialist teams in an inpatient and outpatient basis, offering consultancy, direct patient care and contributing to the development of these services.
You will be responsible for addressing the psychological needs of children and young people with physical health conditions, supporting them through diagnosis, treatment and beyond. The service will include psychological assessment, neuropsychological assessment, short to medium term therapeutic intervention, as well as developing psychologically informed working practice with a range of MDT colleagues. There is also the opportunity to contribute to and/or lead on service evaluation audit, research and training within the service.
You will be joining the team at an exciting time as the service is expanding and increasing its skill-mix. This provides opportunities for supervision and service transformation. We are a distinct Medical Paediatric Psychology Service but work closely alongside our colleagues in Community Paediatrics and CAMHS.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
You will hold a BPS approved postgraduate degree in Clinical Psychology or BPS Statement of Equivalence and have current registration with HCPC as a Practitioner Clinical Psychologist. Trainee Clinical Psychologists would not be expected to be HCPC registered at the point of applying for the post, but would need to have attained registration before they would be eligible to commence the post.
Relevant placements within clinical services for children and adolescents during doctoral training and relevant research experience as part of doctoral training is required.
You will have post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology or as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology

Hours: 37.5 hours per week – variation in contracted hours may be considered.

A car licence/car ownership is essential for this post.
