Thank you for your interest in joining our growing #TeamPublicHealth in the North East. This is a 37.5/40 hours per week, permanent post.
We are lucky to have strong partnerships across Public, Private, Third Sector and communities in the Northeast with many examples of good practice and innovation to protect and improve population health. In common with Scotland as a whole, the pandemic has compounded many of the health challenges we are grappling with which are significant and in places worsening.
As partners we recognise the need to apply the lessons learned from our pandemic response to enduring issues such as inequalities. To ensure we learn and adapt from our collective experiences and in recognition of our shared responsibilities, we have created a North East Alliance.
Over the coming months we will be working with a growing and diverse membership. By bringing our collective knowledge together with data and evidence, we want to have powerful conversations and take action to deliver our vision of thriving communities living fulfilled lives.
You will be surrounded by leaders seeking to transform their systems to improve the health of the population, leaders who aspire to put population health at the centre of everything they do, leaders who are seeking the right person with the right skills, attitude and ambition to make change happen.
We are looking to recruit to a leadership role that will join the senior team in our Public Health Directorate.
This role will work with our partners to support us in changing our system approach to community led health. We have several external learning partners - our local universities, national bodies such as Public Health Scotland, Scottish Government and the King’s Fund to help us grow and learn as individuals and as a team.
Candidates must be included on the GMC Specialist Register or UK Public Health Register as per the job specification.
For Medical applicants:
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post). For more information, visit www.gmc-uk.org.
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
