Full time post 37.5 hrs/week (Monday - Friday)
We are currently looking for a HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join our skilled and motivated specialist Mycobacteria team, to fulfil a Team Manager role. Applicants must be HCPC registered, be educated to Masters Level (or equivalent) and have significant, current experience working in a diagnostic Microbiology laboratory at Band 6 level or above. Experience of working in a Containment Level 3 environment and good Health and Safety knowledge is desirable.
This is a full-time, permanent post and is based within Scottish Mycobacteria Reference Laboratory (SMRL), which is integrated and co-located with the NHS Lothian Mycobacteria Laboratory at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary site.
The successful candidate will be involved in the day to day running of the lab, which will include some bench duties, training and maintaining the department’s ISO 15189 accreditation. Candidates should be adaptable, have good interpersonal skills and a professional attitude. Therefore, this post is suited to an individual confident in their decision-making, organisation, communication, management and leadership skills
