The Role

University Hospital Monklands is looking for a dynamic Senior Pharmacy Technician – Dispensary Services to join our pharmacy team! This post holder will provide leadership, alongside the senior pharmacist, to ensure a high quality service is delivered, including the safe and timely supply of medicines within the hospital. Furthermore, they will manage and develop the pharmacy technical workforce within the dispensary.

Also, there are significant changes underway to the education and training of pharmacy technicians and support staff which will shape future roles.

What we'll need you to bring

  • National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • SVQ Level III
  • To be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Higher National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • Accredited final accuracy checking qualification. 
  • Commitment to CPD
  • Demonstrate experience as qualified pharmacy technician in hospital pharmacy service
  • Demonstrable experience in dispensary services, this to include handling controlled drugs and clinical trial materials.   
  • Experience in supervision of other staff or of a functional area of pharmacy. 
  • Experience in contributing to and developing SOPs. 
  • Experience in providing a ward/department stock top-up service. 
  • Experience in delivering induction and competency based training
  • In depth understanding of hospital pharmacy services
  • Ability to work as part of and lead a team. 
  • Ability to train and assess others. 
  • Ability to prioritise and organise routine daily tasks using own initiative, whilst supervising and leading a team
  • Ability to work under pressure accurately. 
  • Computer skills/key board skills
  • Ability to communicate more complex information effectively using clear written and verbal skills. 
  • Demonstrate accurate numeracy skills.
  • Ability to identify and manage risks

  • SVQ Assessor

Contract type

  • Permanent
  • Full time or Part Time will be considered
  • 37.5hours
  • Please note part time post the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Location and Working Pattern

  • This role will be based in Pharmacy within University Hospital Monklands
  • The working pattern for this role will be Monday - Friday 9am until 5pm
