These posts are two year Secondment positions
1 Programmed Activity (PA) per week
About the Organisation:
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level. NSS supports customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards. Our priority is always the same – to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland. We do this by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver fit for purpose solutions and systems, delivering high quality services that help our stakeholders to free up resources so they can be re-invested into essential services.
The Post:
In line with Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates guidance, National Screening Oversight (NSO) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Chair for each of the Programme Boards for two of the national population screening programmes – Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm screening (AAA) and Diabetic Eye screening (DES) (two posts in total).
Collectively the chairs of the six Programme Boards will work with the National Clinical Advisor in National Screening Oversight to provide system level leadership and public health expertise for their respective programmes, ensure connections are made between programmes, and system-wide improvement initiatives are taken forward. Each Chair will be expected to work closely with the Senior Programme Manager from National Services Division (NSD) responsible for coordination of the relevant programme, with the national Clinical Lead for the programme, and with Consultant in Public Health Leads for Screening within the territorial NHS Boards.
The Candidate:
Applicants will be experienced public health consultants with knowledge and expertise relevant to population screening. Applicants will have a proven record in leading change, working across traditional organisational, geographical, and professional boundaries, and demonstrable experience of working to tackle inequalities and improve quality.
Applicants must have a current substantive role as an NHS Scotland employee and have the support of their Director of Public Health for this post to be incorporated into their job plan. The post is a sessional commitment of one programmed activity (PA) to reflect the requirements of the Programme Board. The post is offered on a secondment basis. (Candidates can apply for more than one Chair role if they wish, and if supported by their Director of Public Health.)
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of an innovative team to deliver improvements in population screening.
