NHS Forth Valley: Where exceptional Psychiatrists can flourish and really feel at home

NHS Forth Valley is investing in our Intellectual Disability services. One new whole time equivalent Speciality Doctor post and one new whole time equivalent Consultant post has been created.

Psychiatry is in an exciting place in Forth Valley. Our goal is to be able to evidence we have the best mental health services in Scotland. Our inpatient General Adult Psychiatry wards were awarded accreditation status from the Royal College of Psychiatrists in December 2022 for providing high quality care (ours are 2 of only 4 wards in Scotland to currently hold this status). Our goal is that all of our services will achieve similar recognition for providing excellent care over the next 5 years. Our Intellectual Disability wards are already well along the way to gaining accreditation status. The post holder would support their Consultant and multi-disciplinary colleagues in working towards this goal.

The post holder will contribute to the work of our Intellectual Disability inpatient unit and our Additional Support Team (crisis intervention team), which are both based at Lochview Hospital in Larbert.

You can look forward to a warm welcome and strong support from colleagues.  Our hospital is situated in the heart of Scotland, nestled against the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

To apply for this post, please visit the job posting on the NHS Scotland Job Train website. Applicants should have full GMC registration and a licence to practise and a minimum of 4 years’ post registration experience, at least 2 of which will be in Psychiatry at Specialist Trainee level or equivalent. Applicants are required to have evidence of recent continued academic and professional development. Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills are essential.

Part time applicants are encouraged to apply.
