An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 4 Occupational Therapy Healthcare Support Worker to join our well established teams within NHS GG&C. Supporting Specialist Occupational Therapy staff in the delivery of treatment to individuals and groups of children with various occupational therapy needs, the children you work with may have complex difficulties and social care issues in addition to special educational needs within a school setting. This is a community based post and you will work in a variety of settings, with a number of different disciplines/agencies, supporting the child/young person. The post is based in the Glasgow South sector of our NHS GG&C service but you may be involved in contributing to all teams in a variety of clinical bases. Full driving license is required and access to a car is desirable. A knowledge and understanding of the role of OT within Specialist Children’s Services is also desirable. Effective communication, organisational and time management skills are required, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will support Specialist Occupational Therapy staff in carrying out duties as directed, designing and implementing therapy programmes for patients who have been assessed by the Occupational Therapists to identify goals around wellbeing and occupational performance. We assess for and provide a large amount of specialist equipment which requires annual review therefore we are looking for someone with a natural ability to problem solve and a hands-on approach to adjusting technical equipment. Relevant training and support will be provided. Regular supervision and support will be provided as will the opportunity to self-develop through the use of an annual development review and a Personal Development Plan. Experience of working with children and young people is desirable but this post provides an excellent opportunity to develop these skills in a supportive environment.
