A fixed-term, part-time position (7.5h/week) has become available within the Hydatidiform Mole Follow-Up Service (HMFUS) for a pregnancy loss bereavement Counsellor.  Applicants should have an appropriate degree or postgraduate qualification and a recognised Diploma in counselling, or the willingness to undertake. A nursing qualification may be beneficial. The successful candidate will utilise their experience of personal therapy and counselling related to child bereavement/pregnancy loss.  The post-holder will work using own initiative and demonstrable the ability to make autonomous decisions, whilst demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively in sensitive situations.As a HMFUS Counsellor you will work closely with the Clinical Director and Clinical Coordinators to support the service and ensure that the counselling service is undertaken in a timely and efficient manner. Continued professional development and training will be actively encouraged in addition to participating in the validation of new processes, audit and quality improvement.  

HMFUS is a small friendly team of Technical, Scientific and Clinical staff, supported by the East Of Scotland Regional Genetics Service (ESRG), to provide a first-class service for the diagnosis and follow-up of women in Scotland with molar pregnancy or gestational trophoblastic diseases (GTD).  The Service is situated within Ninewells Hospital.  This is an excellent opportunity for suitably motivated applicants to further their career within the NHS and gain experience within a small and specialised diagnostic service.

Hours of work are:  7.5/week
