An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with motivation and drive to take forward the position of Operational Waste Manager for NHS Fife. This post is offered as a full time (37.5 hours), permanent post and will be based at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
You will have a great eye for detail, be an independent thinker who can inspire and work with people across Fife-wide services to achieve the challenging targets on waste. You will work with various teams on very specific projects, as well as set guidance; strategies and policies; service levels and staff training for its waste management and environmental services to be able to ensure/lead compliance at grass roots level, to manage projects and routine data to demonstrate success. Ensuring effective exchange and dissemination of information relating to waste management within NHS Fife and participate as required in audits, special projects and cost reduction and income generation initiatives in relation to waste activities.
You will be expected to develop and maintain management systems to ensure that waste produced by the Board’s operational work is managed to ensure compliance with the relevant legality regulations, sustainability targets and provide demonstrable VFM. You will also be expected to educate, inspire and equip Board staff with the tools needed to create and maintain waste systems to be proud of.
You will be responsible for managing and developing operational waste management, reduction, recycling, on-site waste collection and disposal activities within NHS Fife providing value for money and excellence in service provisions.
You will interact with staff and service providers at all levels and must be an able communicator. As the subject expert, you will both demonstrate clear leadership on the topic and practical hands on implementation skills.
You will hold an appropriate higher degree, MSC or equivalent and should also have practical experience in waste management and must hold or be working towards recognised Waste Manager Qualification or equivalent.
You will be responsible for all waste management at all sites within the NHS Fife-wide remit and have the ability to commute to all areas.
