As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services

Our Regional Centres are located at Hillington, Cardonald, Clydebank, South Queensferry, Dundee and Aberdeen. This post is based in our Cardonald Regional Centre. NHS 24 also supports Hybrid Working for this role.


The Role

To provide comprehensive support to the Business Process Manager in developing new business process and ensuring that existing clinical and operational processes support and enhance frontline service delivery.  Involvement in all Process Audit activity, whilst leading test and review work for all business process developments.

Ensuring that all work has a clear and transparent audit trail, as per the Business Process Development Team methodology.


Key Responsibilities

Provide key administrative support to the process team and Clinical and Operational Process Review Group (COPRG). The COPRG consists of a number of key subject matter experts from across NHS 24, who are responsible for reviewing, ratifying and commenting on all new and amended business processes and scripting prior to implementation into the NHS 24 operation.


  • Documenting changes to all current processes, distributing these for comment to the COPRG and manage subsequent amendments leading to approval.
  • Deputise for the Business Process Manager in attending more strategic level meetings in their absence.
  • Lead the test and review of all process changes, including all new processes to be introduced to NHS 24.
  • Link with the National Clinical Audit group for the rolling Clinical Process audit programme, feeding back where required into the rest of the Business Process Team and to the Business Process Review Group.
  • Increase awareness and positively promote the profile and values of the Business Process Team and the COPRG and it’s role within NHS 24.
  • Test and Review of all Clinical and Operational processes to be carried out and all workfiles kept up to date (ensuring all new processes are added to yearly planners). 
  • Whilst managed and supported by the Business Process Manager the post holder is expected to work with a degree of autonomy, as he/she will often be left unsupervised on a regular basis and as such will be required to make decisions regarding the prioritising of their workload to ensure that instructed tasks are undertaken.


Successful Applicant will:

  • Be computer literate with an excellent knowledge of key MS Office Tools, Visio & Intranet Publishing
  • Prove their ability to prioritise and manage workloads, deliver within tight timescales and high organisational skills with a methodical approach to work.
  • Have relevant years’ experience in a senior/supervisory administrative capacity and a customer focused/related capacity.
  • Have Process Analysis, Risk Assessment and Evaluation experience.
  • Be able to constructively challenge attitudes and perceptions, should the need arise.
