Job Advert

We are introducing 7 day working in NHS Grampian and are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated Radiographer to come and join our friendly MRI team, working across both hospital sites. This role will involve working various shift patterns including 12 hour shifts and weekends. Previous MRI experience is essential, although full training will be given. CPD is actively encouraged and supported.

The MRI service currently has 1 Siemens Avanto 1.5T scanner, 1 Siemens Avanto Biomatrix upgrade 1.5T scanner and a GE 450 wide bore scanner, with further MRI scanners planned for Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin, the National Treatment Centre and Baird Family Hospital in Aberdeen.

The NHS also has access to a 3T Philips Achieva research scanner.

Both sites are very busy and offer an interesting case mix.

We currently operate an extended working day, including evening and weekend shifts and have a 24/7 MRI On-Call service for urgent spines. Participation in these is essential.

The NHSG Radiology Department provides imaging services to approximately 620,000 people living in Grampian, Orkney and Shetland.  NHS Grampian is in an exciting phase of modernisation of which Radiology is key.  The Board have recently agreed plans investing £120 million for the Baird Family Hospital which will bring together maternity, gynaecology and breast services on one site along with The ANCHOR Centre which will provide outpatient and day-patient treatment for patients with cancer and blood disorders.  Radiology is also scheduled to benefit from significant investment through the National Treatment Centre program and is a key component to the NHS Grampian Major Trauma Centre.  Regional planning is also underway through aligned national and regional programmes of work.

Successful candidates will be educated to degree level in Diagnostic Radiography with current registration in HCPC.
