There are 2 posts available of 2.5 sessions each for a fixed term of 12 months.

This will include one full day of clinical activity along with some administrative time. Supporting Professional Activity time is allocated pro-rata. Duties will primarily be focused in the sub-specialty of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, but the applicant should also be familiar with Periodontics and Endodontics. The post holder will be expected to function largely independently and to be capable of carrying out tier 2 fixed and removable prosthodontic care whilst working within their competence.  The post holder will adhere to the principles of good practice as laid down by the GDC.

The Department also runs Tier 2 referral clinics, staffed by Specialty Dentists, to manage non-specialist referrals, these clinics will not be subject to National Waiting Time guarantees.

There is no out of hours on call commitment, however, the post holder will be expected to participate in the Departmental trauma and junior staff cover rota. The post holder will be required to undergo satisfactory annual appraisal using the SOAR online appraisal tool and to formulate a Personal Development Plan in conjunction with your appraiser.  You will also be required to complete a job plan review annually in conjunction with the Clinical Lead.

The post holder should have been qualified in dentistry for at least 4 years, with 2 years’ experience in Restorative Dentistry and Primary Dental Care.

The post holder is responsible to the Lead Clinician in Restorative Dentistry, the Clinical Director and operationally to the Clinical Services Manager at Glasgow Dental Hospital.
