Do you want to be at the forefront of transforming clinical pharmacy?  Do you want to work with a dynamic, supportive and friendly team?

The NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation. It serves a population of approximately 380,000 people, and is provided by an integrated team of around 400 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers, Nurses, and our business team.  We pride ourselves on being a vibrant, welcoming and friendly team that is made up of hardworking, talented and dedicated individuals who work towards a common goal of putting our patients at the heart of everything that we do. We are committed to improving our staff’s experience and development, and ensuring both our staff and patients experience the same compassion and empathy. The team work across Acute and Community hospital sites, General Practices, Mental Health services, and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for the people of  Fife.

As the Senior Clinical Pharmacist, you will provide clinical leadership to our Foundation and specialist mental health pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, shaping pharmaceutical care across our ADHD services. You will work closely with the ADHD multidisciplinary team and  provide specialist pharmacy advice and support to ensure safe, appropriate and clinically effective use of medicines in line with national guidance.

This role provides a unique opportunity to manage a caseload of patients with ADHD, ideally working as an independent prescriber, to provide support and advice to patients, carers and families. You will lead the development of the pharmacy service to the ADHD service and be a senior leader within the pharmacy team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as being a team player. You will be a registered pharmacist with a background in hospital, primary care or community pharmacy.  It would be desirable to have previous experience of working within a Mental Health environment, however, it is not essential, as support and training will be available.

An independent prescribing qualification or willingness to become a prescriber within an agreed timescale is essential, and a relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience is desirable. You will be based at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline although applicants should be flexible and be willing to have occasional travel throughout Fife, as the  post covers ADHD services across Fife. There is flexibility for the post to be based at Stratheden Hospital, Cupar.

Fife has something to offer everyone and has excellent transport links, being only 30 mins - 1 hour from major cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.

Please note the job description is for a generic Senior Clinical Pharmacist role and a detailed job plan and annual objectives will be agreed in line with strategic priorities.
